Four different kinds of water inside forty minutes: an Atlantic beach shelved with coquina rock, the Intracoastal a mile inland, Matanzas Inlet to the north and cypress lakes out west.
Everything below is within forty minutes of the front desk, and the first three are within five.
Walk-over beach access sits a couple of minutes from the property. The Hammock’s shoreline is coquina-shelved rather than flat sand, which means troughs and cuts close in — pompano and whiting hold in them through the cooler months, bluefish and jacks push through in spring and fall.
Fish the incoming tide, keep the rig simple, and check where the coquina rock is showing before you cast.
A 145-acre park with the Atlantic on one side and the Intracoastal on the other, so you can pick your water by the wind. Red drum, whiting, flounder and trout are the usual card. There is a boat ramp on the Intracoastal side and a per-vehicle entry fee.
The closest fishing to the villas that does not involve sand — an eight-acre county park barely up the road with several piers on the Intracoastal, a boat ramp and a kayak launch. Snapper, sheepshead, black drum and the occasional snook around the structure.
Twenty acres on the Intracoastal with a pier, a ramp, restrooms and a playground — the easy option when you are fishing with children who will last about ninety minutes.
A T-shaped Intracoastal pier with a covered section, which is the detail that matters in a July squall or a January wind. Manatees and dolphin move through regularly enough that the non-anglers in the party stay entertained.
A beachfront park between the villas and Flagler Beach with real parking, which is more than can be said for most of the walkovers. Blues, whiting and flounder off the beach.
The inlet north of Marineland where the Matanzas River meets the Atlantic. Moving water, structure and the best shot at a redfish within twenty minutes of the property. Currents are strong — fish the slack, and mind the shifting sand if you are wading.
West Flagler County turns to blackwater and cypress. Lake Disston is roughly 2,000 acres reached by small boat, canoe or kayak; Russell Landing at Haw Creek Preserve has a public ramp and produces speckled perch, shellcracker and catfish. A different state entirely from the surf, forty minutes away.
